That Odious god, "Political Correctness"
Since the end of the 60's "Political Correctness" has so strangled common sense and rational thinking that it has become impossible for thoughtful people (those who still have brain cells left in the cavity behind their faces) and honest people to express ideas and opinions based on reason. That old fable about the naked emperor's subjects refusing to acknowledge his lack of clothing until one little brave boy in the crowd dares to shout out the truth, has never been more relevant than in the upside down world we live in today.
If anyone has the courage to try and speak truthfully they are immediately silenced with cries of racism, homophobia or whatever suits the topic under discussion. A perfectly rational response to the killings in Connecticut that urges armed guards to protect school children is met with derision and labels the person making it a "ranting" lunatic. For those who are anti-gun this terrible slaughter of innocents represents an opportunity to further their agenda rather than keeping children safe. Under the tyranny of political correctness we are not allowed to ask why this very disturbed individual committed such heinous acts. We are not allowed to question what effect his family dysfunction had on him; the fact that after the divorce of his parents he was abandoned by his father and left in the care of a mother who kept him isolated, playing violent video games, taught him how to be a good shot, and only sought help when it was too late. His hatred of her was so great that not only was she his first victim but he basically tried to obliterate her by shooting her multiple times in the face. One of the biggest no no's under political correctness is to ever cast blame on behaviour because that would imply that humans are actually responsible for their actions. It's far easier for the brain dead to blame an inanimate object that magically can come to life and cause things to happen on their own. And besides, holding people accountable would be "judgemental", which today is the equivalent of calling someone a murderer or even worse a billionnaire, except of course if you're George Soros.
I understand why people in the media are intimidated into mouthing nonsense and meaningless platitudes and just telling outright lies. Their jobs are on the line. But why and when did your average citizen become such a spineless jellyfish, so lacking in self-esteem and inner strength that he buys this bilge, hook, line and sinker? People are so needy and empty today that they are willing to suspend rational thought in order to feel loved and accepted. Even when the results make no sense and things only get worse.
At age sixty-five I really don't "give a damn" if my opinions label me a heartless misanthrop, racist, or homophobe. I don't care if it's my children (who should know better) my friends, or anyone who has listened to my endless "rants". I now regard anyone who responds to rational conservative views by automatically cow towing to that odious god "Political Correctness, as an embecilic moron. This army of braying donkeys has so successfully increased its numbers in the last forty-five years, aided and abetted by the Public Educational/Social Engineering Complex that it has triumphed in its war against truth and sanity to such an extent that one of their own has been elected to the highest office in the land.
The current obsession with "falling off the fiscal cliff" (whatever that means)is small potatoes compared to the primordial cesspool that now threatens to envelop mankind and return him to the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth. It's already happening. The "Occupy Wall Street" protesters have much in common with their cave dwelling ancestors. Neither group believed or believes in a Supreme Being; in both cases rules did not exist to interfere with their primal appetites; both indulged in immediate gratification and uncontrollable behaviour although I doubt cave men were as destructive of their surroundings; and both slept with their animals and had no need for personal hygiene. In other words they lived like filthy pigs. The "OWP" also has a lot in common with the feral animals that roam the council flats in the U.K.
I think that most sane people were dismayed by the fact that these dysfunctional misfits and maladjusted malcontents were allowed to go on acting this way and that they had so much support especially from many in the media who believed or pretended to believe that these protesters actually had a legitimate cause they were fighting for. When in truth, they were nothing but a bunch of infantile nihilists who had not yet gone beyond the "me" stage in their development to the stage where the child begins to recognize "the other". When interviewed most of them couldn't put a cogent sentence together as to why they were there. But this nonsense and disgusting behaviour has now become acceptable.
For those of us who try to retain the symbols and values of a civilization that took mankind I don't know how many years to create, it is a terrible struggle to not just surrender, drink the poisonous kool-aid and let ourselves be sucked into the mind, body and soul numbing quick sand of modern society. It seems to me that these difficult times have much in common with life in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire when darkness, ignorance, and superstition ruled much of the continent. If that scenario sounds extreme for 2012 let me remind you of those people who were wearing tin foil hats as they waited for the end of the world as foretold by the Mayan calendar. Fortunately, in the Dark Ages, like today, there were pockets of light where learning and knowledge still flourished and were kept alive. In mediaevel times it only took the black death and the loss of half the population along with the invention of the printing press to start the Renaissance and the beginning of enlightenment. I wonder what it's going to take for sanity to return in our generation?
